In 2013 Pieter Egriega suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, leaving him with reduced mobility in his right side
Nonetheless he won the Stroke Association's Creative Artist award in 2014, was featured as the creative artist of the week on BBC and began in 2015 producing a series of shows at Fringe Festivals.
In 2016 he won the Music award for Buxton Fringe for his show Extraordinary People/Ordinary lives. He has also won Music awards at Buxton Fringe for his 2019 show 11 Reasons and for his 2022 Buxton Fringe Show Adventures in Sound and Light. He has been nominated every year in between times.
His 2017 show, Mr Different, was awarded a grant by the Arts Council to develop into a full sized theatrical show. The culmination of the R&D with Theatre Director Richard Ross and featuring Phil Shellard as Mr/Ms Different was performed at the Contact Theatre in January 2023. The story was developed from Pieter's orginal script by Richard Ross into a story of a woman awakening in a bag on an industrial site, uncertain as to what happened.
The audience questionnaire after the first performance, as part of the R&D process, generated stunning reports, from all who attended. We are now working on producing a trailer in order to discuss with Manchester Theatres the possibillity of performing the show on a large stage.
In earlier times, Egriega (as Arthur Kadmon) was a guitarist and formed several seminal Manchester Bands including Manicured Noise and Ludus. He also joined the Distractions and was one of Manchester's many temporary recruits to the Fall, very briefly.
He has also contributed music to another Fringe performer's Show An A-Z of Fish and Chips which has been performed at Edinburgh and Leicester Comedy Festival.
